Customer Terms of Service

Bilateral contract terms governing marketplace access, orders, and customer conduct (Version 2026-v3)

1. Marketplace Nature & Intermediary Role

HaatKaro is an electronic marketplace intermediary connecting local verified retail merchants ("Vendors"), independent freelance delivery partners, and consumers in Sendhwa, Madhya Pradesh.

Contract of Sale: HaatKaro does not own, manufacture, package, store, or sell retail goods. The legal contract of sale for any purchased merchandise is strictly bilateral between the Customer and the respective Vendor.

The implemented controls and policy mappings have passed HaatKaro's technical verification against reviewed requirements. Ongoing legal, tax, and regulatory compliance remains subject to independent professional legal/CA review, regulatory amendments, and operational adherence.

2. Eligibility, Account Security & Supported Authentication

Customers must be at least 18 years old or access the platform under parental supervision. Users agree to provide genuine identifiers (Full Name, Active Mobile Number, Delivery Address). You are solely responsible for securing your account credentials and One-Time Passwords (OTPs).

Supported Authentication Channels:
  • Email OTP: One-Time Passwords transmitted securely to your verified email address.
  • Password Authentication: Registered email address or mobile phone number with secure password.
  • Google OAuth: Fast and cryptographically verified Sign-in with Google.

Zero SMS OTP Notice: HaatKaro does not send SMS OTPs. All verification codes and security confirmations are routed exclusively via Email OTP, Google OAuth, or account password.

3. Orders, Pricing & Transactional Charges

HaatKaro facilitates transactions between customers and participating merchants, including supported delivery and pickup services. Applicable product prices, delivery charges, discounts, and other transaction-specific amounts are displayed before order confirmation.

  • Merchant Item Pricing: Product prices, descriptions, and any applicable packaging fees are established directly by participating local merchants and are itemized in the checkout summary.
  • Delivery & Logistics Charges: Delivery charges, eligibility, and any applicable promotional delivery benefits depend on the delivery method, serviceability, and platform policies in effect. All applicable charges are clearly disclosed prior to payment.
  • Delivery Collection Independence: Delivery fees collected from customers represent platform logistics billing and do not determine or restrict delivery partner earnings.
  • Store Pickup: Customer self-pickup is available from participating merchants where offered and is confirmed via secure pickup verification.
  • Promotions & Discounts: Promotional vouchers and platform-funded discounts reduce customer cash payable according to their stated terms without impacting merchant settlement entitlements.
Order Cancellation Boundary: Customers may cancel an order free of charge at any time until the merchant marks the order as Prepared. Once an order is marked Prepared, customer cancellation or item alteration is strictly blocked by the platform.

4. Cash on Delivery (COD) Facility Governance

Cash on Delivery (COD) is currently the available payment method for customer orders. Repeated unjustified refusal of valid COD orders, fraudulent orders, or misuse of the service may result in restrictions on placing further COD orders, subject to review and applicable customer-support processes. HaatKaro will not require online prepayment as an alternative while online customer payment is unavailable.

5. Prohibited Conduct

Customers agree not to place fraudulent or speculative orders, abuse or harass delivery personnel or store staff, use automated scripts or scraping tools against the platform, or circumvent platform systems to conduct off-platform billing.

6. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any legal dispute or proceeding arising out of or related to platform services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Sendhwa / District Barwani, Madhya Pradesh.
